Kek or Tarap

"Tarap" is a local fruit ('m not sure its scientific name), commonly found in Sabah. Physically it is roundish in shape with hairy (not soft) skin. When ripe the outer skin is easily opened by pressing gently onto the skin to reveal clusters of heavenly mini "fruits" inside. Each with milky white seeds inside. It tastes heavenly, very milky sweet with no strong smell.

Hehehhehehe jgn panik sri bukan aku bikin kek tarap. The cake is a result after being "renovated". Niece Nia (niece N) had been pestering for a chocolate cake since ages ago. All materials are store bought and assemble at home. The cake is a plain butter cake, then i just made the choc icing and add store bought pink flowers. Very 70's flower power.

P/S I pun at loss apa motif menaruh gambar kek dengan gambar tarap secara selang-seli.....

Tea Party (yg ke sekian kali......lost count)

A very big Yipeeee for the monthly teaparty session at Fabmom's. Didn't manage to snap many pictures due to focusing on eating the luscious lamb (prepared by Fabmom) and spahgetti (ny shabbychicmom). Nyaman gila! Initially we were thinking of meng order X.O punya lamb (mcm lamb hari raya), di mana ada tukang bakar and carving and we just jadi tai-tai duduk kena serve. However, after discussing akan segala pros and cons (pro - mudah betul - no work for us; cons - dilabel Rangka dan tebarus, 3 of us for a RM500 setengah ekor lamb!!), so Fabmom decided to buat Putatan lamb ja. Dessert ada the must have kek lubak, my Rocky Mountain choc, Fabmom's cheesecake (ani, nyaman jua!).
Raya left over cookies or pre-christmas cookies?

2 special order Harajuku Girls.

Pok Pok Kangku Noh

Came back from site inspection in Tamparuli (thus the title of this post. It is part of a local dialect folk song. Pok pok kang ku noh, sumunsud do jambatan, jambatan do tamparuli etc etc etc - Yea semua digalakkan menyanyikan lagu ini). It had been ages since I went for site meetings. The weather was hot, but 'm so glad the work progress is very very good. The site is fronting a river, so serene and calming (despite the hot sun).
View from the first floor of the building. Check out the houses across the river (pic below). Nice kan....the view I mean....

Rocky Mountain

Yesterday was supposed to continue putting up christmas deco at home. Got distracted by cravings for chocolate. Tried to do Nigella's rocky ....something (I really couldn't remember the name of this recipe....Rocky Mountain ja yg keluar di kepala). But it certainly not Rocky Mountain.
Easy peasy (hahahahahaha) no cooking involved. Ingredients: Crushed biscuits, marshmellow, almond (whimsical's addition), chocolate, nescafe.
Melt choc and add few tablespoon of milk, 2 teaspoons of nescafe (to add bitterness and deep chocolate color). Pour melted heavenly choc on the misture of crushed biscuit, marsmallow and almond. Put in fridge till harden. Hmmm..yummy. First pic above is the end product of the Rocky Mountain.
Pic above - velvety dark melted choc poured onto mixture.
Pic below, the ingredients.

Extra melted choc pour onto an otherwise plain choc cake....
Dark bitter choc melting (don't forget to add nescafe to add extra "twang").

This definitely will be a menu for Christmas.

The Love of Money..root of all evil

A consultant just came back from holiday in an African country, and he brought along a ONE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS note. Yupp, it is a legal tender in a country where the inflation rate is in thousands. Malaysia current inflation rate is in the region of 4%-6% (depending on which newspaper/source one is reading). How am I going to explain to my Economic students the existence of skyrocketed inflation rate.

The above note however has an expiry date. "m not sure what is the amount in terms of dollars tho'.
I'm starting to fantasize of having this amount of money (in US dollars or Euro tho')....imagine....to have so much money....OMG! My imagination runs wild now.

Christmas.....not yet

My spirit is willing but my flesh is weak. Wakakakakakak!! How good it is to have a domestic helper to help me tidy things up at home. So in need of a much needed help to put up Christmas decorations at home. I know it is only November, but need an early kick off.
Had re-arranged few things at home, for one, the blue and white collections are now neatly tucked in a box to make way for Christmasy things. I was only half done and there are more to do. Curtains to hang, christmas lights (to be hanged only 2 weeks before Christmas)etc (the lists are endless).
What 'm looking forward for the month of December is to do blog hopping especially blog-blog org putih, to feast my eyes on their homes' christmas deco. To be amazed at their creativity. I so want a white christmas...sob sob sob

These groups of students I likey, very hardworking and ada hati mau blajar. I wish them all the best for their final exams. Suppose to av "majelis makan-makan" with them but tak dapat. "m not good in "beramah mesra" session..so sang guru hanya bagi mereka usin and let them makan-makan among them ja.
Gambar atas takungan kueh mueh Fabmom's raya cookies. Gambar bawah cita-citaku. had already purchased the cupcakes stand. Need to add pretty and dainty cuppies on it only. Masalahnya adalah pembuatan cuppies. I'll try to emulate the pretty cuppies pic below and post here, in the very near future.Hmmm....
