HOCUS POCUS.....QUACKER OAT

Hello u'ol. Fabmob, supershabbymom, min, i'll explain the connection of the title with these pic in a while yeee (LOL!!!).

Dear all, yesterday I was really sick. We had our meeting in the morning and I was feeling very okay. Towards the end of the meeting, I started feelineg nausea and sweating. I went home to take my migraine medicine, but it worsen after a while. I was vomitting, severe headache (both on the left and right side oy my head), sweating cold sweats and a very bad dizziness. It went on for about 4 hours..OMG!!!!it was so bad, I was wondering wht was happening to me. I tried to do post mortem of what I consume prior to the "event". I only ate kak hajah kueh and normal office free coffee. Dg ronney also consume similar food, but she was not sick. During breakfast I ate fried noodle with "tauhu sumbat" and nescafe o ping kaw kaw. Maybe it was the breakfast....but then again, that's my usual breakfast. So in the end I suspected my dinner. (hence,the significance of this post title).

Yesterday I felt I consumed inadequate fibre (after watching Oprah's colon cleansing and how our colon needs fibre to cleanse them). Dr Oz (in Oprah) said oat is one of the best source of fibre. So whimsy decided to be creative with my quaker oat. I don't really fancy eating oat pooridge, they are so "textureless" (lichak). My brilliant idea (at the time!) was to make a pancake from oat. So I make a pancake batter using 2 tbsp normal flour, 1 tbsp corn flour (to make the batter crispy) and 3 tbsp oat wth 1/2 cup of cold icy water. The result is as shown in the first pic. I made sandwich from the pancake using butter and kaya and add chopped almond to add crunchiness and texture to the sandwich. They were quite okay u'ol. But somehow I suspected I "keteguran" this oat meal ohhh (thus the title "hocus pocus...I don't know the english word for "keteguran")....

Okay, I m done with my hocus pocus. I was sorting out fabrics to be sold in my other blog when I stumbled upon a white rosali IKEA pillowcase. OMG!!! I was literally jumping with joy at this "accidental match". Lovely pic below.....

Fruits of My Labor

Hello u'ol. Yesterday evening was spent doing "domestic" thing and gardening. The recent find of rosali IKEA duvet coveris finally used as a table cover, since it matches the roses in the white chair. I don't dare to eat on this table, for the fear of spilling kicap on the delicate cloth (I need to buy "basahan" table).

Whimsy finally did re potting of 2 newly purchased lime tree, and a baby christmas tree. Do u'ol remember my tomato plant and onion buds planted in last month post? The tomato finally ripen (Gosh! after 1 month!), and the onion grew few inches shoots. Dinner was fruit of my labors (LOL!!!). 1 ripe tomato and few scallion (daun bawang, chissss!) with curry maggi noodles. They taste like tomato and scallion. However, I do taste a distinct sweetness to the tomato. Or I'm just imagining the sweetness of my own homegrown veg?

Weekend Finds

Whimsy's weekend finds...I am so very very happy and satisfied wth my "treasures". I got 3 blue "cuik" (small 5 inch plates) to add to my collection, 2 disney princess plates (1 will go to chacha of taman pasir putih). My pride and joy is my IKEA duvet cover, queen size. It is 100% cotton, from the Rosali collection....OMG OMG. I m not sure whether to sell it in my whimsicalfabric, or to make it as a blanket or tablecover. What do u'ol think my dears....

Whimsical Weekend

Hello u'ol, how are your weekend? Mine was so packed with activities. I didn't go to fabmom's kenduri, since I had some entertaining to do. I posted many pictures to describe my weekend. Friday was spent going to Beaufort and Sipitang. Sipitang is a border town, separating Sabah and Sarawak. It is roughly a 3 hour journey via road. Let the pictures tell u'ol the story of each town....

Check out the rooster on the flowerpot, and the bike. I guess this is kadayan version of country shabby chic (LOL).

The weather was EXTREMELY HOT when we travelled, but check out the flooded kampong. It must rained the night before. A usual occurance in this part of Sabah.

Immigration checkpoint Sabah & Sarawak - Lawas. What is the puropse of the shabby drum there kan?We are not creative in beautification kan. If this is Switzerland, the drum would be planted with flowering plants and at least it add some colors and prettiness o the drab building.

These two giant posters tickle my funny bones. The dashing man is the former YB of sipitang and our former chairman. He was also the Timbalan Speaker Dewan Negara (I'm not sure now, since he is no longer a member of parliament). In real life he is dashing Min, very sharp dresser with translucent skin (he is a medical dr)...hehehe (people..this is not a "ruangan mencari jodoh"). Anyway, check out the "pantun 2 kerat barisan nasional" LOLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!

This is a "teka-teki". These fruits is the landmark of Beaufort roundabout (Beaufort is en-route to Sipitang). Please guess what kind of fruit are these?

Beaufort quaint old wooden shophouses. However, they are rapidly being replaced by brick buildings. Btw, Beaufort is also known as a "cowboy town" (previously), because of the shophouses being built on stilt with wooden steps (They are quite nice actually).

Finally, Whmsy's chicken chop dinner. Ok lah, not so bad this chicken chop. The waitress was a Filipino with a very thick Phillipine/American accent. I was fascinated with her distinct "rrrrrrrrrrr", until I almost made a fool of myself. She was asking wht "Maam would want to orrrrderrrr", I stumbled an said chicken CHEP (I wanted a chicken CHOP), chissss!!!!!!

Whimsy weekend ends with this cutesy Japanese sweetd/cracker. So cuteee.... each is a mini kimono doll..

Going Home

Hai again, I m off for outstation again tomorrow. No posting for tomorrow. Above is view of the ongoing flyover at the newly and ongoing refurbished KK airport. Check out the many workers on top of the flyover (bikin geli kan, macam kepala semut!). This is what I and many others have to endure EVERYDAY to go back home. The jam is undescribable. One needs extraordinary patient to go through the jam.
On to a better pics. Whimsy's fav flowers. I'm not sure what is the name of this species. it has white and pink shade and thrive in cool temp. Wish I have these in my balcony.

My Favorite Things

Today is pictures day. I'm posting some of my favorite things today. Above is nasi lemak Malindo (introduced by fab mom) in Api-api centre. Finishing touch is the pinapple(supershabbymom!!!). However the service was lousy today. I went to "tapau" but OMG it was so sllooooooooooow. I think that is the problem with our Bumiputera eatery, when the boss is not around, the workers will adopt a "don't care attitude". The lady cashier today maybe woke up on the wrong side of the bed. She was so "marung" with no hint of pleasantness at all. Luckily the nasi lemak was yummy, so all is well again.
Delivery of order of a pillowcase. I want to collect cotton drawstring bag to put people's orders in them. A shabby chic finishing touch (cewahhh!!!!!)

Many faces of Sandakan

Hello my dears, whimsy was outstation yesterday to Kinabatangan Sandakan. Kinabatangan is about 2 hours journey by road from Sandakan. It is a small town dominated by palm oil related activities. Only a handful of 2 storey shophouses. Whimsy did not take many pics there coz it was sooooooooo HOT there. It must be about 35-38 degree C. However, whimsy wants to share Sandakan quite interesting sights with u'ol. Above is a make-shift wet market selling really fresh seafood. The prices okay I think. Prawns selling at RM12-15 per kilo.

This is Sandakan airport. Very small with only a handful shops selling "entah hapa-hapa" (frozen seafd, souvenirs, sweets, crisps) items. I particularly like the stained glass wall. very "da vinci" kan (stained glass was used in mostly old buildings, and in Sandakan they are usually seen in old churches).

Our propose site in Kinabatangan. If u squint ur eyes, u can actually see the floating restaurant on top of the murky pond (LOL!!)

Oh ya, for lunch we had Bak Kut teh Seafood. Bak Kut teh is usually related with pork kan, this is Whimsy's first time Seafd Bak Kut Teh. Surprisingly they were yummy!!!!Fresh prawns, scallpos and fish. I did not take photos coz i was "shy shy cat" with the rest of the consultants.
